Our Program
First Born Program ® of Los Alamos (FBPLA) is a nonprofit organization that provides parents and primary caregivers with education and support to encourage normal growth and development of happy, healthy babies in positive, nurturing families.
FBPLA provides free home visitation services to all families in Los Alamos County. Services may be requested at any time during pregnancy or anytime after the birth of the baby and can continue until the child is five years of age, or until the family no longer requests program services.
During the home visits, parents can expect to learn about:
Nurturing positive relationships
Creating safe and stimulating environments
Physical and emotional changes during pregnancy
Expectations of childbirth
Breastfeeding
Encouraging infant growth and development
Selecting toys and books that are developmentally appropriate
Discovering community resources
Opportunities for on-going learning and trainings
Along with home visits, our program provides lactation counselors, infant massage, CPR training, and holistic sleep coaching.
