Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register for services?
There are a few different ways to register for First Born services. You can self-refer by submitting an "application" through Am I Eligible (preferred method), using the contact form online, or sending us an email at welcome@firstbornla.org. You can also ask your OB/GYN or pediatrician about obtaining a referral for services.
Who will contact and visit me?
Initially, you will be contacted by our Operations Manager or Lead Home Visitor either via phone call or email. The initial phone call will be a request to schedule an intake, which is our information gathering meeting. We will chat and go over what our program is and how we can serve you, go over any questions you may have, and lastly, gather some demographic information from you. Once that is complete and you are enrolled in our program, a home visitor will reach out to you to introduce themself and schedule your first home visit.
What will a home visit be like?
Home visits last around 45 minutes and occur on a weekly basis. In the initial visit, you will meet your home visitor, complete some required paperwork, and discuss the program and your family’s goals. Subsequent visits will vary based on your family’s needs and the goals that you set with your home visitor. All visits will include information from the First Born® curriculum and the opportunity to check-in with your home visitor to discuss any questions, concerns, or support needs you have.
Is eligibility based on financial need?
If you are expecting or have a child under the age of 5, you are eligible for our program regardless of financial status or income amount.
